The organ was built in 1933 by Ingram & Co. of Edinburgh with two manuals and pedals, and a third manual division prepared for; the action was tubular pneumatic. The pipework is over the stage at the front of the Hall, and the detached console is situated at the front left of the Hall.
The instrument was extended in 1957 - to the full three manuals - by Rushworth and Dreaper, who also completed the pedal department at this time.
It was rebuilt with electro-pneumatic action and a new console in 1987, also by Rushworth and Dreaper. It is currently maintained by Forth Pipe Organs, the Edinburgh division of the former Rushworth company.
