Drama at Merchiston is produced in partnership with St George's School for Girls. There are two main productions each year, one at each school. Biennially one school produces a musical, with a wide range of drama offered in alternate years, from Shakespeare, to Ibsen, via Ayckbourn and others. All year groups are welcome to join in these productions, but, in addition, Pringle has its own musical in alternate years. The youngest boys in the school also have their own production, usually a biennial pantomime.
Recent joint productions have been as varied as Macbeth, Oliver, Lord of the Flies and Die Fledermaus, as well as Pringle productions of Little Shop of Horrors and Return to the Forbidden Planet.
We also welcome other companies and groups to the school to give performances and workshops, and use productions to invite experts in to learn new skills, such as Stage Combat. |
