On Tuesday the U6 geographers travelled to the wintry Cairngorms to investigate the glacial history of the area. A dark, wet early start improved quickly to reveal clear skies and sun with Coire An t-Sneachda living up to its Gaelic name of 'corrie of the snows'! The day was spent investigating the erosive forces which have sculpted the area and interpreting the depositional landforms left behind by giant glacial rivers 12,000 years ago.
Last week, Shell spent the morning at Portobello beach measuring the rate of longshore drift along the coast and studying the effectiveness of the sea defences. The cold easterly breeze did not deter some hardy souls from swimming when the data had been gathered!
