Today saw the quarter final of the Scottish School's Cup, played at an extremely blustery and cold Colinton. We have been very lucky to have 3 home fixtures in the cup so far, but this was to be the last, as the next round is at a neutral venue. Merchiston took the lead early, with a try after just a few minutes and, despite very determined opposition, managed to maintain and increase their lead throughout the game. A final score of 22-7 means we are now through to the semi-finals, and all the boys playing and supporting today deserve praise for enduring the weather. The draw will be made in the next few days; we will update the rugby cup page when we find out who we face in the semi-finals.
In today's other big match, Oxford v Cambridge, Oliver Tomaszczyk, a Merchistonian was playing for Oxford. Sadly the game finished 15-7 to Cambridge. Oliver's appearance today was a real achievement, as it is very unusual for a Fresher to make the first team.
