Army and Air Force Bands have visited Merchiston before, but this was the first time that we have had a workshop session involving around 35 of our boys and St George's girls aged 12 to 14. The Band arrived early afternoon, and after a short and varied concert, they invited the pupils to form a large band interspersed with their own players. They spent the next 2 hours working on several pieces which were performed in a concert at 6.30. The music included medley arrangements of film scores, such as Junior boys not involved in playing themselves joined a number of parents at the concert, and all agreed that it was a wonderful sound, and an excellent hour of entertainment.
