Professor John Underhill visited School on Thursday evening and gave a lecture on his researches into the possible location of the Ithaca. He explained that the modern island bearing that name differs in significant aspects from that described by Homer, and he has been working for the last few years, with a team of geologists and other scientists, on the theory that the true location is actually on the wesetern peninsula of Cephalonia.
The talk was attended by a group of boys from various years in the Senior School, some studying Geography and others Classical Civilization. It was an interesting and thought-provoking evening.
