On Monday, III and IV Form enjoyed a talk from an author, Nicola Morgan, and the opportunity to ask her questions. The gory nature of her books certainly appealed to the boys, and a particular highlight was Nicola reading an extract from 'The Highwayman's curse' which has not yet been published! The boys were holding their breath as she built up the suspense, and then frustrated them by stopping reading at a crucial point! I am sure they will be buying the book when it is published in November!
66 boys bought books, which were signed by Nicola, with 'Fleshmarket', a historical novel set in Edinburgh in the gruesome 1820s proving to be the favourite. Also popular was her non-fiction book about the teenage brain: 'Blame my Brain', which she told the boys gave them excuses for untidy bedrooms etc - just 'blame my brain'!
