22 pupils competed this year: 8 members of the V and VI Forms for the Forbes Bowl, and the remainder, from I Form to Shell, for the McLeod Cup.
The McLeod Cup was given by the composer John McLeod, who was Director of Music at Merchiston until 1985. It was won this year by a pianist, Craig (Shell) playing Debussy's Valse Romantique.
The Forbes Bowl was given by Donald Forbes, a former Headmaster. It was won by Andrew (pictured) playing Milhaud's Duo Concertante for Clarinet and Piano.
Both prizes were presented to the winners by Mrs Forbes, Donald's widow, and Dr Ireland, his daughter; we were delighted to welcome them both back again this year.
