Not only in Scotland has the weather been poor: the 1st XI's tour to Holland was badly affected by rain, with the first match being stopped after 3 overs due to rain, and the second being abandoned altogether. Fortunately, the final game against The Hague Cricket Club was able to proceed, albeit with rain affecting it, and a 25 overs match was played. Oliver H scored a wonderful high class half century, (52 in 6 overs) and Hamish L ended his Merchiston cricketing career in final style with an undefeated half century (57 n.o.). This was a very good game against a side containing 4 Dutch schoolboy internationals, and went some way to redeeming an otherwise spoiled tour.

The match result: The Hague Cricket Club: 141 for 9, Merchiston 142 for 1
