Climbing at Ratho

The first Outdoor Education Sunday Activity of this Academic Year was a climbing trip to the recently reopened Edinburgh International Climbing Arena at Ratho. A small group of boys from Chalmers West and Chalmers East took to the “rock” led by Dr Wilkinson. After an introduction to the equipment and belaying techniques the boys worked in pairs tackling a selection of the roped climbs on the right hand wall of the arena. A significant amount of time was then spent working on some boulder problems and more of the strenuous, overhanging stuff.

There was plenty of potential climbing talent amongst the group and enthusiasm to the point of very sore arms!

The next Sunday Activity is the first week after half term and will be a repeat visit to Ratho.
