The team played two matches, the first against the local Laruns club Under 17 team, whom they beat 23-7 and the second match against stronger opposition in FC Oloron's Under 17s, to whom we lost narrowly by 17-19.
We also enjoyed a day's cross country skiing, a day visit to Pau and a visit to its château as well as a couple of local Jurançon vineyards. We also visited a local shepherd in Laruns and watched him make the famous local ewe's milk cheese, while the sporty types were able to sample the local game of “pelote” played indoors in the “trinquet”, similar to a real tennis court.
The boys really enjoyed the trip and we hope to be able to host a return visit by a group from Laruns next year.

For the second time in three years the 4th XV enjoyed a highly successful short tour to the southwest of France, where they were hosted by the Olympique Ossalois rugby club in the small town of Laruns, south of Pau. The weather was glorious, with temperatures of 16 and 17 degrees in the afternoons. 
The highlight was once again the outstanding hospitality received by the boys, who were hosted by local families in Laruns, and which meant that they had to at least try out some French and make an effort to communicate.
