Brendan achieved his rugby 'blue' in December 2007 and has already scored 3 centuries for Oxford University this season, the last being 155 against MCC. The Varsity Game took place this weekend at the Parks in Oxford, and finished as a draw with Brendan scoring 23 runs.
The last person to achieve a 'double blue' was Simon Halliday who went on to gain 23 England rugby caps between 1982 and 1991.

Brendan McKerchar, Merchiston School Captain in 2001, previously a pupil of St Mary's Melrose and shown playing cricket for 1st XI while at Merchiston under the tutelage of Charles Swan, is celebrating an outstanding achievement of gaining a double blue while studying a MSc in the Science and Medicine of Athletic Performance at Oxford.
