At 10.30 this morning (August 14th) the A Level results were published; boys from the Lower VI and Upper VI arrived in School to collect their individual results... and the phone rang from with callers all over the world asking the same question: "How did I do?" The answer in most cases is "very well", with the School collectively receiving the best A Level results in a decade!
82% is the highest A/B passrate recorded at Merchiston since 1999, when the same figure was achieved. The A-C rate of 95% also equalled the highest on record in the past ten years. There were many outstanding performances, and more details will follow here shortly.
The process now moves onto checking University places, and we can confirm that 3 boys have gained places at Cambridge University, and 2 at Oxford.
Mrs Muetzelfeldt, our Director of Studies, was delighted with all the results, and particularly happy to see the consistency which we have had at Merchiston over the past years continue.
