On Tuesday the School had a visit from a Merchistonian, Graham Biggart who studied at Merchiston from 1939-45. He spoke at assembly about his work as a Civil Engineer; he is an elected Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and has been involved in some major projects. He was Deupty Resident Engineer on the Clyde Tunnel Construction, Resident Engineer of a five mile section of the Victoria Tube Line construction in the 1960s, and more recently Special Projects Manager on the Construction of the Channel Tunnel. This exciting post was one he spoke in more detail about in an evening seminar which many of the boys attended. Pictured is Mr Biggart (left) with the Headmaster.
