The Sixth Form at Merchiston is a very important part of the school. On one level the young men are the 'finished product' so to speak, especially for the boys who joined us right back in the Junior School. The Lower Sixth Year, however, is also an important year of entry to Merchiston, for boys who arrive just for their last two years of schooling. There is a significant 'international' feel to the school at this point, giving the young men opportunity to start looking at horizons beyond Merchiston.
The Sixth Form pupils are the leaders in the school. There is a large element of Leadership Training and responsibility woven into the two years and the young men are expected to step up and take an active part in helping with the smooth running of the school. This can be achieved in a number of ways, including School Forums, House Councils, Prefectship, Heads of Houses, Lower VI helper scheme, Community Service, sports Captaincy etc. Robin Macpherson (Housemaster) |
