Merchiston has an enviable record of sporting success and achievement amongst its pupils, and through its Activity Camps, the School opens up its sporting facilities, coaching expertise and ethos to all those interested in participating in these holiday programmes.
The Activity Camps are open to both students at Merchiston and from other schools. The Activity Camps run outside term time with the focus on developing children’s physical skills and teamwork in a safe environment where they can also have fun and make new friends.
|Multi-Sports||Girls and boys||6-12 years old||Full of fun and variety, children will develop basic sports skills and learn about teamwork. The sports will include touch rugby, swimming, athletics, football, cricket, parachute games amongst others. A team competition follows the end of the week and parents/carers are welcome to watch. Date of camps are 10-14 April 2017, 31 July–4 August 2017, 7-11 August 2017.|
|Boys only||12-15 years old, split into U14s and U16s||A professional led performance based rugby camp aimed at those with a real passion for rugby. This course is a chance for players to improve their levels of fitness and game play within a focused and intensive week-long course. The programme is designed to give participants a head start in their competitive rugby career and to kick start their pre-season training. Dates of camps are U14s Sunday 30 July – Friday 4 August, U16s Sunday 6 – Friday 11 August.|

|Boys only||11-17 years old||Open to experienced players who have an existing golf handicap and hold membership of a golf club. Receive dedicated professional coaching, enhance strategic and tactical skills, play alongside PGA professionals and take part in a series of competitions. The camp will utilise the first-class facilitates at Kings Acre Golf Course, the home of Merchiston Golf Academy. Date of camp to be Sunday 30 July- Friday 4 August, subject to confirmation of the East Lothian Tournament calendar.|
All camps are five days long. Attendees are invited from all over the world, but for safety reasons, we expect children to have a good level of English already.
