Concert trip to the SCO
10th November, 2017
On Wednesday evening, a group of about thirty students and staff went to hear the Scottish Chamber Orchestra playing in a concert at the Usher Hall. The programme consisted of Weber’s Freischütz Overture and two works by Beethoven: the third piano concerto and the ever-popular fifth symphony. We chose this programme because it was full of accessible music, and a great way into classical music for beginners. The performance itself was exciting and energising, with the orchestra conducted by Case Scaglione, with Robert Levin on the piano for the concerto. The visit took place as part of this term’s Arts Programme, and the next event is a visit to go and see the musical Cabaret in the Playhouse on Thursday evening.
