Edinburgh and Scottish Schools Athletics

Within Athletics this week, there was a successful trip to Meadowbank for the annual Edinburgh Schools’ Competition with  Adam L, Oskar T and Matteo S picking up gold medals.  Adam L won the U15 High Jump with a new Championship record height of 1m71, Matteo won the U14 Javelin and Oskar T won the U15 400m. Silver medals went to James L in the U15 Shot Putt, Oliver DB in the U14 HJ and Teddy T in the U15 100m.  Bronze Medalists were won by Charles R in the U17 Javelin, Matteo S in the U14 80m Hurdles, Rudi B in the U14 100m and 200m, Teddy T in the 200m and also to the U15 4x100m which consisted of James L, Ubanni O, Teddy T and Adam L.

At this year’s Scottish Schools’ Competition in Grangemouth, we had some great success. James L won a bronze in U15s Shot, Cameron S picked up a bronze in U17s hammer. Henry C also has success in both the LJ and TJ with a Silver medal in both 017 events. There was also a gold medal for Matteo S in the U14 Javelin. He threw a new U14 school record with a distance of 38.10m, breaking the old record which was set in 1996 by RW Turnbull who threw 36.76m. Finally, Adam L also became the Scottish Schools’ Champion in the U15 High Jump with a jump of 1m70. Additionally, we had another school record broken in the U14 200m.  Rudi B who came 4th in the 200m final finished with a time of 25.98, breaking his old record of 26.40.
