IV Form D of E Practice Expedition
1st May, 2017
Bronze Award Practice, Friday 28 – Sunday 30 April
The group started training on the Friday and was met with favourable conditions. The boys were positive about their groups and took the learning and route card planning in their stride. With a few small organisational issues the following day, all groups made good time setting off to the Trossachs locations, and the weather presented only patchy, light rain. All groups coped with the terrain and made it to camp with plenty of time before darkness. All groups were met by Merchiston staff in the evening at camp and high spirits were reported by all, albeit with some rather weary. The last day involved some early starts for some groups with additional kilometres to walk. With the weather holding through the weekend, all were in positive spirits, however, and gave solid verbal presentations for their expedition aims. They will hope for similarly kind weather in October when they undertake their assessed expedition.
