10 year olds (First Form)

The boys are based in the Pringle Teaching Centre but have more lessons with specialist teachers using more of the senior School facilities. The boys have the stimulus of visiting specialist departments for Art and Design, IT, Science, Music, PE, swimming and games. They undergo a transition year with teaching adopting both a primary and more secondary approach

11 and 12 year olds (Second and Third Forms)

pringle on Hadrian's WallThe boys are now ready to visit specialist departments for each lesson and are taught by a full range of specialist staff. Latin is introduced for some pupils in the Second Form and for all pupils, other than those who require extra support in English, in the Third Form. In the Third Form, Science is also split into its separate components: Biology, Chemistry and Physics. From the Second Form, boys are set by ability in most subjects. The boys are also assigned an academic tutor, who will tutor them during Second and Third Form

At all levels, there is substantial emphasis on ICT, with both specialist lessons and time allocated to the use of ICT across a range of subjects.
