Exhibition of Paintings

Merchiston is delighted to have so many members of staff whose talents extend beyond their day-to-day roles in the School.  Mr McWilliam is one of Merchiston's graduate assistants and he carries out a number of duties around the School including sport coaching, photography, leading an art club for boys, administration and transport.  He comments on an exciting venture currently at Merchiston:

"You may have noticed that there are some paintings hanging in the Dining Hall.  The paintings represent examples during a period from 2006 until now. I have explored the west coast of Scotland and translated my observations into both figurative and abstract paintings. I work mostly in oils and mixed media which have allowed me to represent the moods and atmosphere of Scotland. Recently I have been exploring some Asian themes based around Chinese mythology and symbolism - the two modern works have been painted in Acrylic and have some collage effects.  I hope very much that everyone enjoys the work and I would be more than happy to listen to feedback regarding any of the paintings.

In the event of sales I would like to donate 20% of the purchase price towards two of the associated Merchiston Castle School charities - namely Place2Be and Braidburn School."
