The objective for this session. held at the weekend, was to accomplish as many lead climbs in the time possible, and work on new routes on the articulated wall, competition wall and main lead arena wall.
The boys started with real purpose and, because they were climbing in pairs, could get through lots of routes in a short space of time. It was pleasing to see that each climber was challenging himself with exposed and high adrenaline routes. Of particular note was the 6b route Cameron took on in the main arena, and the 6a+ Thomas had a go on in the articulated wall. Benson managed the 'Gorilla' (6a) climb on the articulated wall and Antoine made light work of the exposed and meandering white traverse on the competition wall (5+).
All the boys managed at least 4 lead climbs each which is impressive at this stage in their lead climb careers, and picked up some additional valuable skills when lead belaying and lead climbing.
It was a rewarding day out for all who were involved.
