On Monday 23rd January, a seminar entitled 'IT in Industry' was held in the Memorial Hall. The purpose of this was to raise awareness of IT as an academic subject and as a career offering variety and opportunity. An Enterprise Architect with a leading Management Consultancy Company gave a presentation to the whole of V forms. The presentation was well received by the boys and, at the end, there were some imaginative and innovative ideas from the audience, the best question winning a small prize. It is hoped that this initiative will assist pupils to see aspects of IT and Computing beyond computer games, Facebook, Twitter, etc, and appreciate the extent to which IT is used within the business world. This is the second year the event has been run with and it it is the intention that this will become an annual event. He is returning later this session to present to the IV form.
