A team of 10 Chalmers West boys took part in the 2010 annual Edinburgh and Lothians Schools' Construction Challenge Final on 21 January at the Corn Exchange, Edinburgh. and secured 1st place. The boys, accompanied by Mr Dickson, joined ten other schools in the final. The event included six different construction challenges devised and managed by Oatridge College, West Lothian College, Capital Skills and Heriot Watt University.
The boys demonstrated excellent team work in every task and impressed the judges greatly.

Merchiston come out on top at Construction Challenge 2010!
The six challenges put each group to the test, these included building a wishing well, garden hut and seat. Teams were marked on a verity of skills including team work, communication and how well they completed each challenge. The winning pupils were presented with a trophy at the end of the day, along with vouchers for the Design and Technology department.
