Pringle Centre Remembrance event
10th November, 2017
On Friday 10th November the boys in the Pringle Centre gathered for their weekly assembly. Rev Nick Blair came to talk about Remembrance and the many Merchistonians who fell in the World Wars and conflicts around the globe. He focused on the fact that Remembrance is about individual people and the impact their loss had on their families and those who came after. Euan and Ismael read descriptions of two Merchistonians who had interesting histories. Andrew and Robert read beautiful letters they had written to The Unknown Soldier – a very poignant part of our gathering. Over the course of this week, the pupils made their own poppy and dedicated it to a name taken from the School Memorial. As the assembly drew to a close, the boys filed out to the front of the Centre and planted their poppy, and observed a minute’s silence in a very special act of Remembrance. The poppies make a wonderful focal point as pupils, staff and parents walk past the Pringle Centre.
