Welcome to the Golf Academy
The Merchiston Golf Academy was launched in September 2011 in partnership with Kings Acre Golf Course.
We aim to nurture and develop the boys through a progressive system that allows them to work on their own golf performance programmes under the guidance of myself and a team of specialized instructors.
Successful applicants will have a fantastic opportunity, benefiting from a first class academic education, sitting alongside an educational golfing experience.
The Merchiston Golf Academy uses as its golfing base an outstanding playing and practice facility in Kings Acre Golf Course and Academy. It is mostly here that the boys will work on their golf sport programmes.
Situated nearby, Kings Acre is an excellent parkland 18 hole course and with its state of the art practice facility is widely regarded amongst Tour visitors as "one of the best anywhere around". This incredible environment will influence players' performance and allow improvement.
Undoubtedly, the success of any such programme delivered is related to the circumstances of environment and quality of coaches. We, at the Academy, recognise and understand the importance of both, and how they affect influence on the strategic development of the individual golfer.
Built within in our performance programmes will be the conditioning context. This is where the players' functional capacity can be developed and raised to enhance co-ordination, balance, muscle tone, elasticity and flexibility. This is an ongoing and fully integrated process from both the individual boy's and the coach's point of view, and undertaken at Merchiston in the gym facilities.
