In a perfect world, young golfers seeking to learn the basics of
the game would have their own spot away from the adults where they
could play in peace. That's exactly what we have at Kings
Acre: a special four-hole mini course with teeing areas,
contoured greens and defined bunkers has been created just for
junior players.
Providing a great Introduction to the game of golf, the junior
area is completely safe and very accessible - parents can watch
their kids from the comfort of the clubhouse while the youngsters
enjoy their very own course.
The short game is one of the most important aspects of golf, and
Kings Acre has a first-class short game area where players of
every standard can hone their skills and technique.
Widely used and highly regarded, the short game area is
reputedly the best of its kind in Scotland.
It covers around 6 acres and allows large groups to work on
their game in a safe and comfortable environment. There are two
USGA specification target greens surrounded by numerous bunkers,
which means you have every possible opportunity to test out and
develop your short game.
Titleist National Fitting Centre
Equipment technology plays a pivotal
part in the development of golfers. At Kings Acre, the Golf
Academy boys are very fortunate to have the Titleist National
Fitting Centre on their doorstep.
The centre, specializing exclusively in
the leading-edge Titleist products, is fully equipped with an
extensive range of Titleist products and an array of shaft options
across Drivers, Fairways, Hybrids, Irons and Vokey Design
Wedges.
The innovative Titleist SureFit Tour
Hosel is also used during the fitting process to maximise the
number of options available to the boys. Each fitting is conducted
using TrackMan Pro launch monitor, which uses radar to track each
and every shot played during the fitting session. The system
displays three dimensional analysis of the shot in real time, as
well as providing a complete statistical analysis of the club at
impact and other vital information such as launch angle and spin
rates. This system, which is also used by Titleist Technicians on
the European Tour when fitting some of the world's elite players
like Rory Mcllroy is able to determine the Titleist club
specifications which offer the best results for a player and ensure
total accuracy throughout the fitting. This has already proved to
be an extremely valuable facility addition to the Merchiston Golf
Academy.
