Tennis- ISF World Schools Championships

11th March, 2017

This week, five of Merchiston’ s finest tennis players travel to Recife, Brazil, for the ISF World Schools Championships. They have been invited to this competition for the second time. When the team travelled to the same competition two years ago in Doha, they finished in 8th place. They are hoping to improve their final positioning this time around and are confident that their preparation and hard work building up to the trip  will pay off.

Rory McCann (Director of Sport) says “ As a relatively small boys’ school, we are very proud to have the opportunity to represent Scotland at such a prestigious schools’ tennis tournament. This will be a wonderful opportunity to play an excellent level of tennis and enjoy everything Brazil has to offer both on and off the court. David Brewer, Nathan Lundy, Ross Murdoch and Daniel Coultas have been working extremely hard with these young men to give them the best opportunity to perform to their full potential. It is now over to them. We wish them all the best!”

They have some difficult games first up with the best schools teams from Italy, South Africa and Germany. We wish Douglas M (Captain), Cameron B (Vice captain), Chris E, Jacob F and Matthew H all the very best and I am sure they will do their utmost to do Scotland proud!
