Merchiston Castle School is available for hire outwith term times for groups, events, private functions and sporting lets. The variety of rooms available lend themselves to both large and small functions to celebrate birthdays, christenings, charity events, evening dinner dances, ceilidhs and so on. With our 100 acre setting, it is a fabulous location allowing guests to relax in the grounds during the event and enjoy the great outdoors.

Many organisations also hire the facilities during the holidays. We can accommodate meetings and various groups of different sizes and requirements. The Memorial Hall can seat up to 400, the Theatre 260 and the Robertson Hall up to 60. In addition, the Dining Hall can be used for groups of up to 200 and the Old Library can be used for smaller functions. There is also a number of varying sized rooms which can be used for meetings or break out rooms.

A wide range of in-house catering options are available, dependent on your function requirements, from a full waitress service, to light buffets, to tea and coffee. Our excellent catering team provide a first class service with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, personalising the rooms and menus to suit each groups' needs.  We can also cater for any special dietary requirements if notified in advance.

There is a range of accommodation available on site within the School grounds, from the newly-built Laidlaw House which is completely en-suite to dormitory accommodation for groups of up to 11.
