A busy start to term with exams approaching
13th January, 2015
Back into term and the whole of Chalmers East House has hit the ground running. Well, sprinting seems more appropriate, as the whole house realised the imminent weight of exams is now upon us!
The first week of school might be described as “furious” and it has to be said that the long and dark days and early wake ups do take some getting used to after the holidays. Those boys lucky enough to have been to the southern hemisphere over the holiday can quickly feel their tan quickly fading; and proclaiming oneself as “tired” is becoming a real trend amongst the boys and prefects alike!
As well as the somewhat routine day to day coming and goings of school life in the boarding house, the thought of the “distant” Christmas break still played around the minds of all. Indeed Mr Timms even took the time to get all the boys to write up their own New Year’s resolutions, and stick them up. Of course, new gadgets and other miscellaneous things have been flying around the house with everyone returning from the Christmas break.
It has been a very positive start to term indeed and Mr Timms has set a purposeful but comfortable tone as the boys prepare for some important exams. Already the calendar is brimming with events to keep the boys positively distracted from their academic endeavours: more visiting speakers; socials with St Margaret’s and St George’s; ceilidhs; a Mexican evening of food and drink; music concerts; and the much anticipated CE Supper Club where the boys invite and host guests for the entire evening, including buying and cooking for their guests!
