History

Boys walking in Edinburgh

History is not just the study of the past: it is about the stories that people tell about the past.

At Merchiston we study a huge range of topics, ranging from the ancient world in Pringle, right up to the end of the Cold War in V Form, and we have some exciting early modern options in VI Form. We study a lot of Scottish and British History, but much European and wider world History, too, so you can be guaranteed to learn about a wide diversity of topics.

All of our teachers are passionate about what they do, with their own special areas of interest that they use to inform their teaching. Whether you’re interested, in Bannockburn, the Boston Massacre or the Berlin Wall, there’s something here for you. Why not come and see for yourself?

There were so many achievements happening this week in sports and activities, that we had to summarise them here. A big congratulations to all the boys below who were celebrated at our recent whole school assembly.
