We provide full support to help students settle in, make friends, explore new cultures and make the most of their time in Scotland. Our boarding environment and experienced staff ensure that every pupil feels secure, supported and connected from day one.
The International Admissions Process at Merchiston
Contact our Admissions Team at admissions@merchiston.co.uk to discuss your enquiry and arrange a virtual call to discover life at Merchiston. Educational agents are welcome to contact the Team via the same address. If you have the opportunity to visit in person, we would love to meet you and show you around our wonderful campus.
Complete our registration form and submit it alongside a £120 on-refundable deposit to secure your child’s place at Merchiston. Please also forward a copy of your child’s birth certificate, passport and recent school reports.
CAT4 Assessment will take place online or at Merchiston, if you are planning to visit in person.
We will formally offer a place once all entry requirements are met.
Complete our Acceptance Form to accept a place at Merchiston. The acceptance deposit should also be paid at this stage (£5,000, refundable when leaving Merchiston, less any outstanding charges).
Begin immigration proceedings if necessary. Complete Guardianship paperwork as required.
Visa Application Process
Merchiston Castle School provides full support for families applying for a UK Child Student Visa, ensuring compliance with all UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requirements. Alongside our partner Sable, we guide families through every stage of the UK student visa application process, making it as clear and straightforward as possible.
To begin the visa process, families must provide:
- Offer letter and deposit payment
- Valid passport and birth certificate
- Proof of guardianship (UK-based guardian required)
- Parent or guardian contact details
English as an Additional Language (EAL) Provision at Merchiston
At Merchiston, we provide tailored support for international students who speak English as an Additional Language (EAL), helping them integrate fully into school life and achieve their academic potential.
EAL support is tailored to each pupil’s level of English, with assessment on entry to ensure the right level of support.
