Alumni News: attending a university abroad

Merchistonian

Greig Sharp left Merchiston last year and continued his studies at university in China. Read his thoughts below:

The first 4 months of my time in China have been amazing! Not only have I had many different valuable experiences, but also my Mandarin has improved dramatically – far more than it would have if I had studied it in the UK. Chinese people are so welcoming and friendly, and China is perfect for students in many different ways, one being the very low cost of living. I’ve also loved travelling around China too, visiting different provinces and experiencing different traditions and cuisines. Luckily, this is very easy to do in China because of the outstanding transport infrastructure and cheap transport costs. Overall, student life in China is ideal, letting you learn life skills and giving you a lot of freedom which many students enjoy.
