The boys of Chalmers West enjoyed the annual ‘Ready Steady Cook’ competition. We all gathered in the Dining Hall, and our eyes were drawn to a table filled with an array of food, spices and herbs!
It started with our host, Fay, showing us different types of carbohydrates, vegetables and other types of food. She then showed us a bunch of different uses of the different foods and how it is good for our guts and mental health.
After she had finished explaining the foodstuff, Fay chose Mrs McGregor and Mr Ogilvie-Jones as team captains, and they selected two random players of their choice to join their teams. They then had to cook something with no preparation in the space of fifteen minutes using the foods we were shown earlier.
Mr OJ prepared noodles, rice and butternut squash curry, and Mrs McGregor made a spicy noodle taco. The crowd then decided that the spicy noodle taco tasted better, more delicious and they were crowned victorious.
We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would encourage other boys to attend when given the opportunity.
