Hello! I’d like to introduce myself as the new housemother in Pringle and I’m delighted to say that everybody I have met at Merchiston has been very welcoming and friendly. The boys especially have been very patient while I’ve been learning their names, getting to know them and trying to make sense of the school jargon – how do you clear an earth shelf??!

We’ve also welcomed four new boarders into the house this term who have settled in extremely well to boarding life. I seem to have started at the best time of year as in my first couple of weeks there has been a flurry of birthdays and countless delicious cakes and pizzas to enjoy!

The boys have embraced the start of the new term, new year and new decade with energy and enthusiasm at school and beyond, and their sense of fun comes shining through at every opportunity. So far, our weekend activities have included a bowling trip and catching up with the latest Star Wars film. Our friends from Kilgraston have been down for a visit as we hosted a House Social, enjoying an evening of pool, table tennis and music all fuelled by pizza. We’re looking forward to the fun activities and outings we have planned for the rest of the term.

On Thursday afternoon, the Pringle Centre held our annual Burns Lunch and we were entertained with impressive renditions and recitals of Burns’ poetry and songs, accompanied by the pipes, drums and recorders.

Our prefects are deep into study for their upcoming exams and we are here to support them every step of the way.
