    Memorial Hall

The Memorial Hall was designed to be the focal point of the new Merchiston, when the School moved to Colinton in 1930. It is dedicated to the memory of Merchistonians and members of the Common Room who gave their lives in the service of their country in the First World War, whose names appear on the memorials outside the Main Hall; the names of those who died in the Second World War have been subsequently added.

The Memorial Hall, to this day, maintains its primary function as School Chapel and Assembly Hall, but is also used for a variety of other purposes and functions, as it has throughout its history.
