It was wonderful to welcome our community to the School for an outdoor carol concert, the 'Merchiston Carolling Journey', on Sunday.

Guests gather outside Laidlaw for our Christmas Carolling Journey

We started at Laidlaw with a wonderful rendition of 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' from Sixth Form musicians Alexander R, Finlay P, Will N, Dougal M and Will F, followed by an introduction from our Headmaster, Mr Jonathan Anderson.

Together we walked through the grounds to the main School building, led by our students and the Close Harmony Group with the beautiful 'Silent Night', followed by a whole-choir 'We Three Kings'.

We heard a number of readings from staff and students, along with congretional carols and performances by the Merchiston choir and Close Harmony Group.

Guests were then led down the School drive by the Merchiston Pipe Band, who surprised and treated us all with 'Jingle Bells'!

We reconvened at Pringle for 'Away in a Manger' and a blessing from our Chaplain, Rev. Nick Blair. A fabulous spread was laid out for us by our catering team, with mince pies, hot chocolate and mulled wine.

It was wonderful to welcome our community to the School and we were very grateful for the mild and dry (although blustery) weather. The School certainly looked resplendent in all its festive glory!
