The Golf Academy were recently competing in the British Schools National Finals at Belton Woods Golf Club, Lincolnshire. Qualification for the Finals is dependent on winning your Region, which Merchiston did in Scotland.

Jimmy Z (Shell)

Merchiston performed really well, finishing a very respectable 5th out of 17 teams in the UK.  Each team member contributed to the overall result, competing admirably in difficult conditions over two different courses. Individually, Ivan B finished in a very impressive 9th position. Moreover, Roland G won the individual title – making him ‘British Schools National Champion’ for the net category.  A fantastic achievement, especially considering Roland was the youngest player in the field (14 years old) in an Under-18 National Tournament! This is one of the biggest School Golf Events on the annual calendar, and for the team and Roland to perform under that pressure not only makes Mr Hutchison very proud, but is also a testament to all the boys’ diligence and hard work on their golf over some challenging winter months.
