Burns Supper at St George’s

On Friday 18 January, boys attended the annual St George’s Burns Dinner. Arriving en masse at 7.30pm, the boys were welcomed by the girls in the Main Hall before being invited for dinner. They enjoyed a three course meal of smoked salmon, traditional haggis, neeps and tatties and a selection of cheese for dessert. There was a variety of Burns performances and renditions by the girls throughout the dinner which were fantastic, including the rendition of all eight verses of Tae a Haggis and a medley of Burns songs performed by the close harmony group. Another tradition of addressing the Laddies and Lassies was performed by the Head Boy and Head Girl of each school respectively. After dinner, the boys and girls enjoyed ceilidh dancing together, really rounding off a marvellous evening of a Burns celebration.
