On 30 April, Ms Williams, Mr George and Miss Mullan took a group of 13 boys to Passo Tonale, Italy, for our annual ski trip, and what fun was had! The weather and snow conditions enabled us all to test ourselves on every possible terrain. The first few days gave us bright sunshine and soft snow, followed by over 1.5 metres of snow fall within 24 hours, which allowed many of our advanced skiers to try deep snow conditions on piste. This meant that on the last day, we were faced with beautiful conditions and a perfect piste, which allowed us to try out some new slopes in the lower town of Pontedilegno. Every day after skiing, the boys enjoyed at least an hour in the hotel pool. They also took many walks down to the shops in town, had a sledging night, a movie night and many snowball fights! They were well fed with a four course lunch and dinner every day, which eventually proved even a little too much food for the Merchiston boys! Our two British instructors, who flew over with us, were excellent and the boys improved massively throughout the trip. We were even lucky enough to have the Snowtraxx company owner out with us who, being a Merchistonian, looked after us all very well. The boys all gelled fantastically and much laughter was had while playing many games of UNO together in the evenings.
