On Tuesday, the Upper Sixth A Level Geography pupils were joined by Robert Snodgrass, a sales director for Baker Hughes, the multinational energy technology company. In his talk Robert covered the impact of COVID on the gas and oil industry, the importance of LNG gas for the UK’s energy mix, when peak demand for oil and gas will happen, and how companies like Baker Hughes will try to transition from oil and gas to a more renewable future. Robert also talked about his journey from starting with a small Scottish technology startup company to his current role and the acquisitions that happened along the way. It was a very interesting talk which gave the boys an insight into the dynamics of the gas and oil industry and invaluable information to be used in future assessments.
