After Merchiston's strong performance at A-Levels last week, today marks another greatly anticipated day with the publication of our GCSE results for the V Form.

Once again, our students have put in a strong performance across the cohort with a fantastic 47% of all papers graded 9/8/7 and 90% papers graded 9-4.

These results are testimony to the committed, shared endeavours of the V Form, the staff and parents that have supported them throughout these important exams.

Jonathan Anderson, Headmaster pays tribute to our students:

"We are delighted for our boys on an excellent set of GSCE results and we’re very proud of their efforts. Every student deserves our congratulations for their hard work, and I would like to thank the Merchiston community of staff and parents who have supported and encouraged every single boy throughout his journey.”

Our Deputy Head (Learning and Teaching), Dr. Dale Cartwright, is thrilled with the outcomes:

"We congratulate our boys on a wonderful set of GCSE results. This reflects the individual attention we are committed to at Merchiston and highlights that our flexible pathways allow each student to excel academically. It was particularly encouraging to see that 12 of our students achieved 5 or more Grade 9/8 equivalents and 7 of them achieved a fantastic 7 or more Grade 9/8 equivalents. Of course we celebrate all successes including personal bests and improvements across the whole range of available grades. Academic results are just one measure of success at Merchiston, and we are immensely proud of everything our V Form have accomplished, both inside and outside the classroom. We look forward to supporting them on as they embark on the next stage of their academic journey towards A-Levels and preparation for Higher Education and work.”

The individual stories underpinning this headline figure are of course the ones that really matter. We remind all the boys to reflect on their personal success and think of their unique future goals. They can then put into practise the academic skill they have learnt when moving forward in their academic journey. We look forward to welcoming our boys back to Merchiston next week, and to starting to move on with them through the next stage of their academic journeys.
