Golf Academy Win World Ranking Event

The Merchiston Golf Academy travelled South to compete in the Alexander Quin Invitational, a World Amateur Golf Ranking event, hosted by British Schools and Colleges. Played at the European Tour course, Forest of Arden, Merchiston A and B teams competed against some of the UK’s best schools and universities.

Merchiston A won the coveted title; the first time a school has ever won the team event.

This was an incredible achievement in the U21 event, as Merchiston’s team consisted of four boys under 16.

Director of Golf, Alan Murdoch, said “Normally age plays quite an important factor in Junior golf. However, with such a strong group of players in the academy they don’t really think about age - they just play, get on with it and believe in their own abilities."

"This is an incredible achievement for our boys and to be the first school team winner makes it all the more impressive.”

Congratulations to Merchiston Team A : Daniel, Consti, Lyle and Pablo.

In the U15 event, Daniel won the individual title.
