Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is the biggest annual celebration in the world with one-fifth of the world's population.
This was my fifth Chinese New Year dinner, and yet again, I am left impatient for the next one! We were greeted warmly by the staff of the Imperial Palace Restaurant, and were lucky enough to be in the company of some of the girls from St George’s and Kilgraston.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Headmaster and Mrs Chang-Robertson for their contribution to our annual Chinese New Year meal. All the boys that attended the celebration received a traditional Chinese red packet from the Headmaster, which contained money and quotes from Chinese proverbs about harmonious living.
Delicious Chinese Food makes up another important part of Chinese New Year. We were fortunate to have a beautifully prepared meal which included many traditional Chinese dishes.
Apart from the tasty food, there are also outstanding performances delivered by pupils. Charles and Tommy played a delightful piece on the piano and cello, respectively. Their performance was truly exceptional.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Chinese New Year’s dinner and cannot wait until the next.
Happy Year of the Pig everyone!
