Five different age groups played fixtures this week at both Loretto and Cargilfield as the boys arrived back fully recharged and ready to go after deserved Weekend Leave.
The U14 and U18 boys both travelled to Loretto on Tuesday and it was the U14 boys who put in the performance of the day. In a tight game the U14 boys led 2-1 at half time before moving away in the second half to win 5-1. Hamish (2) and Freddie (2) led from the front with Todd scoring the other goal. The U18 boys struggled against Loretto 2nd XI and found themselves 3-0 down before a comeback made the last five minutes very interesting indeed. Max and Julius with the two goals.
Wednesday was a fantastic day of hockey, if you ignored the weather. A bright morning turned into a wet and wild afternoon just in time for the U9, U11 and U13 boys to play Cargilfield. A mixture of results but it was great for so many Junior boys to get the chance to play against a strong hockey school. The most important thing was that no one was blown away or washed away in the monsoon like conditions!
In our final week before half term the fixtures continue. On Tuesday the 1st XI seek revenge as they host Loretto while the U15 team host Glenlamond in the Scottish Plate. The U13A and B teams host Fettes on Wednesday with Loretto U14s visiting Colinton on Thursday. The boys are still enjoying learning and experiencing the sport for the first time in many cases. Hockey Club continues on Wednesday evenings 6.30-7.30pm for any boys interested.
