We are proud to announce that during the Easter break, Merchiston had the strongest representation of boys from any club or school in both Scotland Under-16 and Under-18 rugby squads.
Ten pupils from Merchiston earned their International Ties during the tournaments in Wales and England. Seven boys represented Scotland Under-16 in Wales, and three were selected for the Under-18 Six Nations Festival in England.
Every member of this team has worked exceptionally hard, and we would like to congratulate all the boys involved, especially the Merchiston pupils: Rudi, Teddy, James, Alex, Guy, Adam and Ben (U16), Jamie (Captain), Matthew and Dan (U18).

Under-16s try scorer, Rudi, said: “It was a great experience playing for Scotland Under-16 in Wales. I had a great time and met loads of great people as well as being challenged physically and mentally throughout the trip. I really enjoyed my time with the team”.
Director of Rugby, Roddy Deans, commented: “As a school, we are extremely proud to see our boys push forward to play performance level sport. To have 10 boys involved over the Scotland U16 & U18 programmes is testament to our structured rugby programme, and committed coaches, who are all part of the Merchiston fabric as teachers and housemasters”.
“Our culture continues to grow and evolve, giving every boy the opportunity to enjoy his rugby and make life-long friends and special memories.”
