It’s been a while since the boys have had a chance to tread the boards of our wonderful theatre at Merchiston. The Junior Drama Club, which has started this term, aims to give boys from I to IV Form the chance to develop their performance skills, building confidence while working together as a team and most importantly, having fun!

So far, we have focussed on improvisation games and using movement and physicality to create character. The boys have enjoyed devising short mime scenes, using movement creatively to portray a variety of characters. We have also been working on creating dialogues using props and costume as a stimulus. Performing these scenes in front of their peers, has allowed boys to develop their confidence acting for an audience and they have delighted in giving feedback to their fellow performers!

Next term we will continue to work on devising short scenes to perform at the end of the year. We are looking forward to getting back on the stage soon!
