On Our Doorstep - Week 2 Our series (read our first post here) bringing the Edinburgh and Lothians to you continues this week with the National Museum of Scotland.
"Two strands of history come together in the story of the development of the National Museums Scotland: the desire to have a museum reflecting Scottish history and the wish to have a museum demonstrating international cultures, natural and physical sciences, and decorative art for Scotland. Discover our story from the 18th-century beginnings to the present day." www.nms.ac.uk
The National Museum of Scotland was the first museum/gallery in Scotland available for online exploration via Google Arts & Culture’s Museum View experience. Using Google's StreetView technology, you can now take a behind the scenes look at the National Museum of Scotland moving through the exhibits in a similar way to Google Street View, viewing 20,000 objects on display. There are also about 1,000 pictures of objects from the Edinburgh museum's collection online.
Enjoy your tour!
