The sun certainly had his hat on during our garden party this week, a Union Jack Bowler Hat to be specific. What a wonderful evening we had as the whole Merchiston community gathered to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Guests were treated to a performance from our Pipe Band followed by a barbeque for all from our wonderful caterers, Chartwells Independent. One of the '12 Happiness Habits' we have been focusing on this year is enjoying life through play, and we certainly fulfilled this during our Tug of War competition (and putting the teachers in the stocks to be faced with wet sponges!).

Huge thanks go to Charlotte Arrowsmith who organised both this wonderful event and our Jubilee mugs. Juan's design was picked to decorate the mugs, 150 of which have been sold to raise money for Hope and Homes for Children. The charity works in countries across Eastern Europe, Southern and East Africa and South Asia to support families, local partners and governments, to move children out of orphanages and into loving homes.

We were proud to fly Calum R's winning flag, who was successful in the National Platinum Jubilee Flag Design Competition.

Huge thanks to everybody who came along to support this wonderful event. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
