From bespoke lamps to a trip to an outdoor pizza oven manufacturer, our Sixth Form Product Design pupils have been getting to grips with fine-tuning new skills as well as learning from a local design-led company.
Recently, our LVI Product Design boys have been working hard to develop their wood-tuning skills to complete their lamp projects. Each boy is now the proud owner of a bespoke lamp, the creative shades (the work of Dorval Lighting) are individual and crafted from a variety of colours, patterns and materials, ranging from recycled rugby shirts, t-shirts, family tartans and Merchistonian Club cloth.
Last month, three students from the UVI Product Design and Design Engineering had an incredibly insightful trip to Ooni, an outdoor pizza oven manufacturer in Broxburn. This special trip was arranged as part of the boys’ coursework to interview one of the company’s designers for information regarding their products and the design processes which took place.
We're all excited to see what the boys will make next!
